I have been an avid participant in the sport of cycling all of my life. I was the first kid on the block to have a ten-speed racer and have had a passion for more efficient bicycles ever since. I spent years and thousands of miles on diamond frame bicycles, constantly upgrading to better more efficient designs. I went faster more easily but the pain was always present and always becoming progressively more severe. Eventually the pain effected everyday life to the point of immobility and my bicycling passion had to be set aside. The pain eventually decreased over time, but my passion for the sport did not. Some 12-15 years ago after a couple year hiatus I could no longer resist the urge to cycle again. My adult trike store was soon born. My association with the home built aircraft business had its advantages for my new curiosity with recumbents trikes. Many manufacturers and experimenters with recumbents were purchasing our 4130 tubing for proto types and small production runs of some of the earlier bents.

I traded some tubing for some frames and off I went on a complete new type of bicycle. The earlier models were heavy and slow but were much more comfortable to ride than the diamond frame trikes I had ridden all of my life. They enabled me to get back into the sport again, and I started to enjoy cycling in a way I had never been able to before – riding without pain. My airplane building background and my addiction to design perfection led me to stronger, stiffer, lighter, designs of recumbents that were very comfortable and faster. Eventually I made the decision to turn my hobby into a business. The task of manufacturing, marketing and distribution of recumbents were made much easier with my past experience of supplying raw materials world wide to aircraft builders.
